What a tour from Queenstown to Fiordland is
Queenstown is not in Fiordland. Te Anau, the park's gateway town, is 179 km away, about 2
hours 20 minutes on the road by DOC's figures, and the fiords lie beyond it. A tour from
Queenstown is a day that covers that distance for you, there and back.
It comes in three shapes. The coach days drive the whole way, about 600 km return, and
take 11 to 13 hours. The fly-cruise-fly days put you in a small plane for 30 to 40 minutes
each way and bring you home in four and a half to five hours. One day splits the two, with
the road in and a flight home.

You keep your Queenstown bed

Nobody has to drive 600 km
DOC's own advice is to plan the Milford trip from Te Anau. If you are staying in
